Urban Wetlands
Interactive installation
Variable dimensions Aluminium, LED, wood, custom circuitry, 2012 |
Urban Wetlands provides an experience that plays with how the urban replaces the natural. It questions how this foreseeable change from the natural to the urban changes our understanding of land. Urban Wetlands is built to mimic a field of reeds. Each reed is crafted from aluminium and tipped with a resin light node. These lights fade up when a visitor approaches, and dim down as they move away. In this manner, the visitor can weave an illuminated path through the installation, playing with their presence within the field.
